Couronne
A contemporary reinterpretation of vintage advertising and Haitian visual culture, Couronne explores Black representation, identity, and the imagery we inherit from commercial culture.
The work responds to the absence of Black representation within much of the commercial poster and advertising imagery of the past. By reimagining this visual language through a contemporary Black perspective, Couronne inserts a presence that was too often missing, not as a recreation of history, but as a new image within it.
Bold, nostalgic, and intentionally reimagined, the piece reflects on who gets represented, who gets remembered, and who gets to shape the visual culture we inherit.
